Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a government body in charge of tourism industry and on 27 November 2020 it announced the good news about the festive season discounts on gorilla trekking permits. The discounts came as a promotion which was aimed at improving the number of tourists both local and foreign who visit Uganda to take park in gorilla trekking activity. The discounts were offered with effect from 1st December 2020 to 31st march 2021 and the discounts are as follows,
- Foreign non resident gorilla trekking permits were reduced from USD 700 to USD 400 per person
- Foreign resident gorilla trekking permits were reduced from USD 600 to USD 300 per person
- East African citizen gorilla trekking permits were reduced from UGX 250,000 to UGX 150,000 per person.
Note: The discounted gorilla trekking permits in Uganda 2020/2021 only apply to new purchases between 1st December 2020 and 31st March 2021 and do not apply on rescheduled permits which were previous purchased and those that were already booked with deposits. The discounted gorilla permits cannot also be rescheduled.
