Discounted Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Permits, chimpanzee trekking permits are legal documents that are issued by Uganda Wildlife Authority to visitors above the age of 12 years allowing them to visit the chimpanzees for one hour in their natural habitat. Chimpanzee trekking activity in Uganda is carried out in different destinations such as Kibale national park which is also known as the primate capital because it harbors 13 primate species including more than 1500 chimpanzees, monkeys and baboons, Budongo forest in Murchison falls national park, Kalinzu forest, Kyambura gorge in Queen Elizabeth national park and Ngamba island sanctuary which takes care of orphaned chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee trekking is an amazing and exciting activity in Uganda starts with a briefing at the headquarters where after you will be grouped into 6 people, allocated a park guide who will lead you into the forest during trekking and a habituated chimpanzee family to trek. Chimpanzee trekking takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will have great views of other primates, birds, animals, beautiful butterflies, different plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn about their habits, behaviors, take photos, record videos, watch them feed, breastfeed, hunt, play, fight, rest, mate among others.
Discounted Uganda chimpanzee trekking permits
Uganda Wildlife Authority announced the discounted Uganda chimpanzee permits on 27th November 2020 and this discount was aimed at improving the number of local and foreign tourists who visit Uganda and take park in the adventurous chimpanzee trekking activity. The discounts of Uganda chimpanzee trekking permits were offered with effect from 1st December to 31st march 2021 and they are as follows.
- Foreign non resident chimpanzee trekking permits were reduced from USD 200 to USD 150 per person
- Foreign resident chimpanzee trekking permits were reduced from USD 150 to USD 100 per person
- East African community resident chimpanzee trekking permits were reduced from UGX 150,000 to UGX 100,000 per person.
Discounted Uganda chimpanzee trekking permits only apply to new purchases between 1st December 2020 and 31st march 2021 and do not apply on rescheduled chimpanzee permits which were previously purchased and the already booked permits with deposits. The discounted Uganda chimpanzee permits cannot be rescheduled.
How to book discounted Uganda chimpanzee trekking permits
Discounted Uganda chimpanzee trekking permits can either be booked directly through Uganda Wildlife Authority by contacting the head offices via telephone calls or email. You can also book the discounted Uganda chimpanzee permits through a trusted tour operator like Achieve Global Safaris. When booking through a tour operator you will contact us with the date and month when you want to visit the chimpanzees. We will later check for permit availability and when available you will be asked to send your personal details and make a deposit for the permit. Uganda Wildlife Authority also offered 50% discount on birding fees and 50% discount on park entrance fee for savannah national parks like Lake Mburo national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Murchison falls national park, Kidepo valley national park, Semuliki national park, Katonga wildlife reserve, Toro Semuliki wildlife reserve, Pian Upe wildlife reserve and Kabwoya wildlife reserve. Visitors can therefore combine their chimpanzee trekking safari with wildlife safari in any of the savannah national parks.
