Activities to do while at Nyati Game Lodge –Semuliki National Park
Bird watching
This is the main done activity in the park and boosts with over 441 bird species and 46 of the species are Guinea Congo biome bird species and 5 Albertine Rift endemic species. Birding in Semuliki can be done from Sempaya to Ntandi around the roadside up to Kirumia trail. Some of the birds to see include; long-tailed Hawk, Nkulengu Rail, Black-wattle Hornbill, Lyre-tailed Honeyguide, Ross’s Turacos, Black-casqued wattle Hornbill, Red-rumped Tinker bird, African Pacolet, Yellow-throated Nicator, White-throated Blue swallow, Ituri Batis, Red-Billed Helmet –shrike, Red-eyed puff-back, Black-winged Starling among others.
Nature walk experience
This is an impressive activity the second done within the park which can be done through three different trails that is 13 kilometer Kirumia trail ,11 kilometer Red monkey track and 8 kilometer Sempaya Nature trail. All these are thrilling trails that allows you see lots of amazing species in the park while walking on foot. Primates to see include baboons, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey. You can walk to Batwa cultural trail and visit the Batwa people’s traditional culture and listening to their amazing stories. Hike through Nyaburogo Gorge a home to number of wildlife species, birds like Tropical Boubal, Black-headed bushrike, Arrow marked babbler among others.
In fact, Semuliki National Park is located in remote corner of southwestern Uganda ,approximately 5 to 6 hours’ drive .The park is one of the top birding destination in Uganda and also home to various primate species.
