State of tourism in Uganda During COVID-19: Uganda is blessed with a number of natural resources that have attracted tourists from the all over the world to visit in order to take part in the activities and among the most rewarding activities that tourists take part in include gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park and mgahinga national park, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park, game drives in queen Elizabeth national park and Murchison falls national park among other national parks and different tourism destinations in the country.

Uganda is among the African countries that were greatly affected by covid-19 after confirming its first case in March 2020. The emergence of the virus led to the shift of interest from travel to survival and this led to the decline of tourist arrival in the country because of a number of travel destinations were closed as a way to find ways on how to carry out tourism in the country in the safest way possible this is because little was known about the virus. During the lockdown, a number of safety precautions and measures where brought up by the world health organization and the ministry of health in Uganda imposed the same measures and also devised more which has led to the tourism destinations to open up during the pandemic. ACCESS TO THE COUNTRY
Before visiting the country to part in the different tourism activities in the country, tourists are advised to take a covid-19 test which will ensure that travellers are negative of the virus and thus take part in carrying out of the activity. Important to note about the test is that tourist are supposed to take it 72 hours before travel to the destination. When you visit the country you are advised to take part in a 14 days quarantine which is the window period for the symptoms of the virus to be seen and when none of the symptom develop you are free to take part in the activity.
PRICE OF TOURISM ACTIVITIES
There has been a change in the tourism activities including the change in the prices of the activities have been a number of discounts on a number of tourism activities that have been carried out to attract more tourists and this includes activities like gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park and mgahinga national park by the Uganda wildlife authority, chimpanzee trekking and birding in all national parks in Uganda.
Chimpanzee trekking promotional rates are as follows;
- East African community citizens will pay ugx 100,000
- Foreign residents will pay USD 100 for gorilla permits
- Foreign non residents will pay USD 150
For gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park and mgahinga national park, the discount for the different tourists is as follows
- East African community citizens will pay ugx 150,000
- Foreign residents will pay USD 300 for gorilla permits
- Foreign non residents will pay USD 400
Important to note about the discount rates for primate tracking and birding in Uganda 2021is the fact that no reschedules on the promotional permits beyond the promotional period. Gorilla trekking discounts during covid-19 will only apply for new purchases between 1st April- 30th June 2021 and not on reschedules of already paid gorilla permits

Gorilla trekking
Gorilla trekking is one activity that should not be missed out on for a memorable Uganda safari. Game drives can be carried out in a number of national parks in Uganda like Murchison falls national park, queen Elizabeth national park, kidepo national park that will give you rewarding views of the Murchison falls, one of the world’s violent falls, numerous animal species graxing in the plains like…………………. carnivores that you will get to see hunting for prey like among other rewarding attractions.
Chimpanzee trekking
Have an amazing time taking part in chimpanzee trekking in Uganda and this can be carried out in kyambura gorge, queen Elizabeth national park, Kibale national park and Budongo forest and this will give you the opportunity to understand more about the playful primates as you spend one hour observing their different features in the wild like their feeding patterns, their co- existence with one another, their engagement with the tourists among other interesting features and attractions youll get to see when you take part in the activities.
