Uganda Safari Activities to celebrate Women’s day: 8th March is a day to celebrate women, their uniqueness, strength, power and contribution to society. This day is usually a public holiday in most of the countries in the world and people like to take this time to do activities that will help make this beautiful day as they celebrate the different women in their lives.
Many people stay at home and enjoy company cooking and chatting at home, while others would like to do something more adventurous and out of the confides of home. The good news is in this article we give you a couple of suggestions of activities you can do on women’s day to enjoy the day as you celebrate the women in your life.
The activities we suggest below are a bit adventurous and also relaxing so you get kill two birds with one stone and above all enjoy a great time on this public holiday. The activities include but not limited to:-
Game drives
To celebrate women’s day you can take on a game drive in one of the national parks in country. On game drives you get to explore the wild as you view several wild animals that live in different wildlife plains. Some of the animals you will see in the wild include but not limited to lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs and many more.
You can find most of these animals in the different National parks across the country that include Murchison falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kidepo National Park, Lake Mburo National Park and several other game reserves in the country.
Primate trekking
If you have not been primate trekking before, women’s day is a great opportunity for you to take on this adventure. Primate trekking is an opportunity for you to see an experience the famous primates in their natural habitat. During primate trekking you take a trek in the primate’s habitat searching for the primates and when you find them you spend an hour with them, observing them and enjoying their presence.
In Uganda primate trekking is done in Bwindi National Park, Mgahinga National Park, Kibale National Park, Bundongo Forest and Kyambura Gorge.
Primates trekked in Uganda are mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.
Boat rides
Boat rides are also another fun experience for you to take on for women’s day. On a boat ride you take a ride on the lake or river enjoying the scenery of the surrounding and sometimes sighting animals and birds that make their life on this water body.
Boat rides in Uganda are done on Lake Victoria, Lake Mburo, the Nile River, Lake Bunyonyi and several other water bodies.
Nature walks
For persons into nature, nature walks can be a great experience for you this women’s day. Taking a nature walk helps you explore the different aspects of nature and all its surroundings. Nature walks can be done anyway because nature is every way but the most amazing locations for nature walks in Uganda are Mabira forest, Kidepo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and many more.
Ziplining
If you feel like an adrenaline rush, zip lining is the activity for you. During Zip Lining you swing from one end of the tree to another in air. Normally zip lining is done above a certain level and it’s really a trilling experience.
Several places in Uganda have zip lining but the most popular ones are Mabira Forest and Lake Bunyonyi
Hiking
Challenge yourself this women’s day by taking on a hike on one of the mountains in country. As the name suggests hiking is climbing up a mountain. Most mountains in Uganda are quite high and they take more than a day to hike, so you may not do it all on the single women’s day but you can plan for it as women’s day celebration.
Mountains normally hiked in Uganda include Mt Rwenzori, Mt Elgon, Mt Gahinga and others.
Community tours
You can also use women’s day to get to know other communities; you can purpose to take community tours in any part of the country to know the different people that are in Uganda. Community tours are done in all parts of Uganda but the most popular groups of people visited are the Ike group in the North and the Batwa people in the south west.
White water rafting and bungee jumping
If you are a water adventurer lover, white water rafting and bungee jumping are the activities for you this women’s day. These activities give you a thrill for the water and your adrenaline. The activities are done on the Nile River in Jinja just about 3 hours from Kampala.
