What Activities Are Done In The Wet Season? Many numbers of travelers opt to visit Uganda while on their safari because it has so many tourist attractions that tourists can see hence blessing them with a good safari experience as they create remarkable memories. and tourists are free to visit within this country at any time through the year however, the dry season because it is when there is less rainfalls received which always gives individuals opportunities to continue with their daily programs without any distractions. More so, they can still visit during the rainy season, which is between months of March to May and from September to December because there are several activities, which are best, done within this season, and some of these include the following below;
Things to do in the Rainy season in Uganda.
Gorilla trekking.
Gorilla trekking is considered to be among the best top activities for one to do while they are on an adventurous safari in the country and it is best done from places like; Bwindi impenetrable national park which is known to be a home to over 800 endangered mountain gorilla species which can be trekked within four sectors such as; Nkuringo sector, Buhoma sector, Ruhija sector, Rushaga sector and in Mgahinga Gorilla national park. More so, gorilla trekking in the rainy season is easier to do compared during the dry season because within this season, the mountain gorillas reduce their movements within the park whereby they always gather in specific areas, which they consider as their best hidings.
In addition, for tourists going for trekking are always put in groups with a maximum number of eight members depending on which gorilla group they are going to trek and each group is being assigned to with a park guide who is to lead them through different trails. And for those who opt to trek from mugahinga national park always involves them to hike through Virunga mountains like; mount Muhabura, Mount sabingyo and mount Gahinga among others. and gorilla trekking always goes for about 2 to 3 hours depending on where the species are located and after finding them, individuals are always given about one hour to spend around the species and only tourists above 15 years are allowed to participate in the trekking because the behaviours of children is always unpredictable.
Chimpanzee trekking.
Chimpanzee trekking is also one of the best things to do in the rainy season because the chimpanzee species always limit their movement within the park. and this activity is best done from destinations like; Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Budongo forest which act as good natural habitats to large population of the chimpanzees. And tourists can opt to combine this activity with chimpanzee Habituation which grants them opportunities to spend more time around the chimpanzees, and this is to help the chimpanzees get used to the presence of humans and also helps individuals to learn more about the behaviours and characters of the chimps such as; watch how they eat and feed their young ones, play and sleep among others.
Game drives.
Game drives can also be done in the rainy season whereby tourists will always capture classic views of the savannah plains and the green lush vegetation and these rides are best done from areas like; Queen Elizabeth national park, Murchison falls national park, Kidepo national park and many others. In addition, while on these drives, tourists always get chances to sight see at the herbivorous animals such as; impalas, gazelles, Uganda kob, elands among others which are early risers that are always seen moving around the park searching for food. More so, for those individuals who opt to go for the evening game drives can be able to see carnivorous animals as they try to catch their prey in the wild.
Bird watching.
Bird watching is one of the best activities done in the rainy season because this is considered as the best time when the breeding of birds occurs and it is best season to spot migratory birds in large numbers, which always fly from Europe. Therefore, some of these birds include; blue checked bee-eater, African Darter, Great Egret, chapins flycatcher, crowned lapwing, red-throated alethe, pockeffellers sunbird, Rwenzori batis, African wattled lapwing, common squacco heron, Eastern grey plantain eater, chapins flycatcher and many others.
