What Is The Mandate Of The Wildlife Authority In Uganda? The Uganda wildlife Authority is known to be a government agency, which has a mandate to conserve, economically develop and also sustain and protect all the national parks in the country. In addition, it well known that there are over 10 national parks, 12 wildlife reserves and 14 wildlife sanctuaries in Uganda that are all being managed by the Uganda wildlife Authority. This government organization was first established in 1996, following the merging of UNP (Uganda National Parks) and the Game Department, along with the enactment of the 2000 Uganda Wildlife Statute/Act. Uganda Wildlife Authority has its headquarters based in Kampala City, on Kira road, just opposite the Uganda National Museum. This organization works together with the neighbouring communities, which are adjacent to the national parks and wildlife reserves, in order to promote sustainability of wildlife resources and the local people. Mission.

Protected Area Management.

Therefore, this always involves them working closely with law enforcement agencies to apprehend and prosecute offenders. More so, the Anti-poaching efforts include the deployment of rangers and the use of technology to monitor is all put in place to protect wildlife from various threats.
Education and Awareness.
The Uganda wildlife Authority provide educates tourists and the local people about the awareness and importance of wildlife conservation. The authority engages in educational programs usually targeting schools, local communities, and the public.
