What to Pack for Gorilla Safari

Rain Jacket

Consider this item in your gorilla trekking packing list as it is very crucial in as far as gorilla trekking item is concerned. Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park are a tropical rain forest in that rain is received throughout the year so to be on the safer side always pack your rain jacket gear. For this reason, you will never tell when is going to rain you need a rain jacket in order to be safe from rain. Many visitors prefer traveling in drier seasons of June, July, August and September in order to avoid rainy seasons of March, April and May but being a tropical rain forest, rain can fall any time. Hiking Boots

This is the most wanted item that should be included in your gorilla trekking gear. Long Sleeved Shirt or Blouse

Energy Giving Snacks

Note that, gorilla trekking is unpredictable can take from 2 to 8 hours, for this reason your body must be health and we advise you to carry some energy giving snacks as supplements. And after your breakfast, you need to carry your packed lunch served from the lodge and enough drinking water as you will never know when you will return. You can buy your energy giving foods in Uganda or Rwanda’s supermarket by help of a tour guide.

Hat and Sun Glasses

You might visit the park in drier seasons when there is too much sunshine and in order to protect yourself from strong sun rays. You need to carry a hat and sun glasses too are extra options.

Pair of Binoculars

Don’t forget that while on safari you will need to have clear views of everything. Remember, Bwindi boosts with over 350 birds, chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys among other primates, wild animals like forest elephants, buffaloes, so during your gorilla trekking in a tropical forest. Porters for your gorilla trek

This is an extra optional item to our clients who have heavy luggage’s and cannot carry them during their gorilla trekking experience, so we advise all visitors to hire porters for their gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking can be strenuous and you will need someone to pull you on the way to the gorillas. These porters go a fee of small charge and worth it. They are actually still students or in their vacation or chased out of school due to school fees. Through paying money to the porter you will have contributed to the community development.
