Day 1: Transfer from Kigali Rwanda to Goma Congo

Transfer to Goma: In the morning on day 1 of 2 days virunga gorilla trekking safari from Kigali, our Rwanda company representative will be at your hotel in Kigali ready to pick you up and be driven towards the northern province of Rwanda while viewing the rolling hills of Rwanda being the land of a thousand hill. Proceed your drive past Gisenyi Rwanda for an enroute lunch then crossover into Congo to Goma city where you will be cleared to obtain your Congo visa and obtain your Gorilla trekking permit then join the Convoy to be driven to your reserved lodge in Virunga national park where you will check in for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga and drive back to Kigali for departures

Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park: After breakfast on day 2 of 2 days virunga gorilla trekking safari from Kigali, pack some snacks, enough drinking water and wear the best gorilla trekking gear that includes waterproof hiking shoes, long sleeved attire, sun glasses, garden gloves, a cap and insect repellant then be transferred to Bukima police post for a briefing with other trekking. At Bukima, you will find experienced rangers who will take you through a session of briefing where you will be introduced to gorillas, gorilla trekking, the dos and don’ts during the gorilla trekking and the possible encounters during trekking among others. After the briefing, you will be grouped into small groups of 8 trekkers per group which is the maximum number of trekkers per gorilla family though sometimes you may be less than 8 depending on the number of people trekking that day. Ensure that you hire a porter before starting the trek to help you in carrying the back pack and even offer a helping hand where necessary. In fact some trekkers hire two porters. Well, after all that, you will be led into the forest to start searching for the habituated mountain gorilla family in the wilderness of virunga national park.  The entire gorilla trekking takes about 30 minutes to several however depending on the movement of gorillas. During the trek, you will be rewarded with a lot of encounters of different fauna and flora species that makes the trek more enjoyable. And once you finally land on that particular gorilla family, you will spend only one hour of close interaction, taking photos and watching gorillas in their natural habitat then trail back to Bukima to be transferred to your lodge.
