Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Goma and connect to Virunga national park

Transfer to Congo: On day 1 of 5 days Virunga and Nyungwe forest primate safari tour, you will set off on a drive from Kigali Rwanda to Rwanda Congo border where you will be cleared at Grande Barrie border to obtain a Congo Visa then visit the Virunga tourism office also at Grande Barrier to pick your gorilla trekking permit and cross over into Goma where you will be transferred to your lodge for check in and have a relaxed evening.

Day 2: Congo mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park

Congo gorilla trekking in Virunga national park: After breakfast on day 2 of 5 days Virunga and Nyungwe forest primate safari tour, report to Bukima patrol point where you will meet with experienced rangers and other trekkers ready for a briefing. During briefing, note down the key and most important points that will guide you while in the habitat of endangered mountain gorillas. After briefing, hire a porter and be led into the forest to move up and down via different trails in search of habituated mountain gorillas that always roam the forest in search of food. The entire trek takes about few minutes to about 5 hours or even more but when you get in vicinity of these giants, you will spend only 0ne hour with them taking photographs and learning more about these endangered primates. Be led out of the forest and return to your lodge for lunch, then check out and be driven to Gisenyi Rwanda where you will spend you overnight at leisure.

Day 3: Drive from Gisenyi to Nyungwe forest national park 

Drive to Nyungwe forest national park: After breakfast at your lodge in Gisenyi Rwanda on day 3 of 5 days Virunga and Nyungwe forest primate safari tour, you will check out of the lodge and start a 5-6 hours road drive to Nyungwe forest national park with lots of fascinating attractions along the way that makes the drive seem shorter. Lunch will be enjoyed enroute and as soon as you get to the park, proceed to check in your lodge for a relaxed dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park

Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest national park: After breakfast on day 3 of 5 days Virunga and Nyungwe forest primate safari tour, head out for a briefing about Chimpanzee trekking to get all the basic information about the dos and don’ts during the trek and finally be led into the forest to search for these gentle giants as they go on with their daily life style of roaming the forest in search of fruits and other foods.  The entire forest walk might take about 2-3 hours and as soon as you land on them, you have only one hour of taking photographs as long as your camera flashlight is completely off throughout the trek and ensure that there is no shutter sound. After spending your one hour, trail back to exit the forest and return to the lodge for lunch.

Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park:  After enjoying your lunch still on day 4 of 5 days Congo Rwanda Safari, head out for a thrilling and fun filled afternoon canopy walk which is considered the best canopy walk in East Africa that will take you on an adventure at a tree top height while sighting several wildlife species in the forest and the park at a glance. During canopy walk, look out for different primate species since Nyungwe forest national park is a home to 13 primate species, look out for mammals, birds, butterflies and many other fauna and flora species that thrill in the forest.  Return to the lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
