Rwanda National Parks

Rwanda National Parks bring to you unforgetable safari experiences including wildlife and gorilla tours. Rwanda, also referred to as a land of a thousand hills, is a small country in East Africa neighboring Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Rwanda is one of the best countries to visit in Africa, with unique attractions like the mountain gorillas, the big five animals, water bodies, volcanic mountains and welcoming people.

Rwanda has about three national parks and each offers unique attractions and safari activities that clients can engage in during the safari, which include

The park is also a home of golden monkeys, animals like forest elephants, bushbucks, different bird species and five volcanic mountains namely Mount Karisimbi, Mount Sabinyo, Mount Bisoke, Mount Gahinga and Mount Muhabura. Travelers who visit Volcanoes National Park will have an opportunity to engage in several activities like gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, hiking Mount Karisimbi or Mount Bisoke, bird watching, visiting Musanze caves, guided nature walks, cultural encounters, and the Dian Fossey grave hike, among others.

Akagera national park

Akagera National Park is the only savannah protected area located in the eastern part of Rwanda. The park consists of different vegetation types like savannah, montane forests, woodland, and water bodies including Lake Ihema, Lake Shakani and River Kagera.

The park is also a home of animals like lions, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, elephants, elands, impalas, giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, roan antelopes, spotted hyenas and a variety of bird species. Major activities that Akagera National Park offers to travelers on the safari include night and day game drives, boat cruises on Lake Ihema, bird watching, sport fishing on the shores of Lake Shakani, nature walks and cultural visits.

Nyungwe forest national park

The park is a home of 13 primates, including chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, owl monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys, among others; 85 mammals; over 300 bird species; 1,050 plants; reptiles; and butterflies, among others. Nyungwe forest national park offers activities like chimpanzee trekking, forest and canopy walks, colobus monkey trekking, bird watching, biking through the Congo Nile trail,

National parks in Rwanda can be visited anytime throughout the year; however, the best time is during the peak or dry season in the months of June to September and December to February because during these months, there is less rainfall; therefore, the parks will be passable and less muddy.
