Day 1 of the 2 days mount Karisimbi hike
Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes national park, upon arrival at Kigali international airport on the first day of the 3 days mount Karisimbi hike you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kigali for a city tour. During the Kigali city tour you will visit Kigali memorial center, Kimironko market, Presidential Palace among others. After the city tour you will go for lunch in one of the restaurants and then continue to Volcanoes national park in north western Rwanda. On your way you will have great views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, terraced farmlands, local people among others and upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Climb mount Karisimbi
Climbing mount Karisimbi, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days mount Karisimbi hike you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about the safety, precautions and what to carry during hiking the volcanic mountain. After the briefing you will be allocated a park guide and drive to the hiking trail head where you will start hiking mount Karisimbi that stands at an elevation of 4507 meters above the sea level. Hiking mount Karisimbi takes about 6 hours during hiking you will pass through volcano edges, ridges, bamboo forest, steep altitudes, calderas and you will have views of wildlife species such as birds, primates among others. You will have a stopover at a camp at 3,700meters for an overnight and dinner will be arranged.
Day 3: Reach the summit of Karisimbi volcano and descend back to the starting point.
Climb to the summit and descend back, on the third day of the 3 days mount Karisimbi hike you will have an early breakfast and then start hiking to the summit where you will take beautiful photos and have spectacular views of Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira active volcanoes, landscapes, forests, surrounding communities, other Virunga ranges among others. After the great views you will start descending back to the starting point which takes about 3 to 4 hours and upon arrival you will transfer to the lodge for lunch.
Departure to Kigali, after lunch you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kigali international airport where your driver guide will drop you off for your departure flight.
