3 Days Trip to Akagera National Park Rwanda
The 3 Days Akagera National Park is a short tour package that leads you to a unique Rwanda’s only savannah park, combining varied ecosystems such as grasslands, wetlands, and lakes within a protected area that inhabits the Big Five and diverse birdlife.
This itinerary is crafted offering amazing opportunities for boat safaris on Lake Ihema among others. The park is habitat for iconic African wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos and a paradise of birdlife, home to over 500 species including water birds, savannah species and elusive bird ‘’shoebill.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Akagera National Park – Lake Ihema Boat Cruise
You will be picked up from your hotel or Kigali International Airport, you will be transferred to Akagera National Park.
Upon arrival, check into your booked lodge, have lunch and then head on afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This is a great chance to see crocodiles, hippos and large herds of elephants and buffaloes on the Lake shores.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive
After morning breakfast, head out on both morning game drive and afternoon game drive. The morning game drive goes across Akagera’s diverse savannah plains.
Around afternoon, have break for picnic lunch. Then after, continue on another game drive, searching for various wildlife species such as giraffes, zebras, antelopes and potentially lions or leopards. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Final Game Drive and Departure to Kigali
On your last day, you will enjoy a final game drive to search for the missed animal species in different areas of the park. After the morning activities, drive back to Kigali. With optional, visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial and take a tour of Kigali city to learn more about the country’s history and culture. End of the tour.
