10 Days Mount Rwenzori Hiking Safari is a premium safari experience carried out on Rwenzori Mountain which hosts the 3rd highest peak in Africa called Margherita peak measuring 5,109 meters of its height 167ft wide above the sea level. This mountain was selected as one of the world’s Best Hikes by National Geographical and besides that is on the list of UNESCO World heritage sites. Rwenzori Mountain is Africa’s snowcapped mountain that lies in Kasese district western part of Uganda and the major activities done here are the hikes and nature walk around the park. However, the hike is not an easy one posing a challenge to even experienced hikers, sign up when you are ready for the challenge. But absolutely worth a visit.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Foothills of Rwenzori Mountain
Transfer to Rwenzori Mountain: Depending on your point of location, our professional driver guide will pick you up but you will be briefed first about the 10 days Uganda Rwenzori Mountain Hike Safari. Then set off to Kasese with a lunch en route. You will continue to the foothills of the Mountains of Moon ‘’Rwenzori mountain’ ’Arrive at the park, have enough time to rest and prepare for your trek the next day. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Begin to Explore the Rwenzori Mountain
Begin to Explore the Rwenzori Mountain: On day 2, you will wake up early amazed to begin your day by hiking the Rwenzori mountains. Your driver-guide will transfer you to Nyakalengija ‘’1646 meters’’ to have a briefing and begin your climb into the Rwenzori mountain ranges. You will meet locals who will hike with you, also helping to carry some of your luggage uphill. Having practiced this activity for several years, generally they find easier to hike up and down the mountain.
This hike will probably take you along River Mubuku through the thick vegetation arriving at the Nyabitaba hut ‘’2651 meters’’ where you will spend overnight from. It is a rewarding scenery that takes you in as you continue hiking along this trail. You will then arrive at the Nyabitaba hut for your overnight.

Day 3: Hike to John Matte hut
Hike to John Matte hut: Wake up hopefully today to continue to enjoy the hike, have early breakfast and hike through a bridge across River Mubuku. Your overnight today, will be at John Matte hut so hike past Nyamuleju hut exciting the views of Mount Stanley and Speak depending on weather condition. You will climb passing through some open patches, lobelia and heath moss forest to the John Matte hut ‘’3505 meters’’ for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Hiking to Bujuku hut
Hiking to Bujuku hut: You will wake up early, have breakfast and your today’s sights will be Lake Bujuku ‘’3962 meters’’ and cooking pot which is a rock shelter. Begin the hike early morning through the giant lobelia before you arrive at Bujuku hut for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Hike to Elena hut
Hike to Elena hut: Today’s plan will be, wake up early have breakfast, begin to ascend to Mount Victoria and Mount Speke from the valley with rewarding alpine vegetation consisting of Giant Groundsels and Lobelia. You will hike through the glaciers in order to reach at Elena hut ‘’4541 meters’’ for an overnight.

Day 6: Final ascend to the snowcapped Margherita
Final ascend to the snowcapped Margherita: Today you will ascend up to the highest peak for the Rwenzori mountain called Margherita, the hike to the peak is bit challenging compared to Mt Kilimanjaro.
You will wake up early, have breakfast to begin the hike never know you might descent back to Lake Kitandara hut on the same day. You will begin with hike to Alexander peak ‘’5092 meters’’ and continue on to the highest peak at 5109 meters, finally to famous Margherita peak. You will enjoy picture session at the highest peak before you begin your descend to the wrathful Lake Kitandara for an overnight stay at Kitandara hut ‘’4020 meters’’.

Day 7: Descend to Guy Yeoman hut
Descend to Guy Yeoman hut: After your early breakfast, you begin the day along descent to Guy Yeoman hut ‘’3505 meters’’, having our picnic lunch on the way and continue descending with great views of DR Congo. An overnight at Guy Yeoman hut.

Day 8: Descend to Nyabitaba hut
Descend to Nyabitaba hut: Today after breakfast, this makes part of our last hike that will drop steeply along River Mubuku and joins the original route close to River Bujuku to Nyabitaba hut ‘’2651 meters’’. Enjoy the last moments of the mountain before the next day comes. An overnight at Nyabitaba Hut.

Day 9: Hike to Kasese
Hike to Kasese: On this day, after breakfast, we shall begin the last descent to Nyakalengija which was the beginning point of our hiking journey. Meet your driver or guide to drive you to your hotel in Kasese.

After breakfast, we leave for Kampala or Entebbe Airport for the departure flight.
