All inclusive 13 Days Budget Uganda safari visiting Murchison falls, Kibale forest, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Gorillas and Volcano Hiking in Mgahinga! Trip further takes you to Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo.
Day 1; Arrival
You will be welcomed by our company representative upon your arrival at Entebbe airport and transfer to the Lodge where you will unwind, dinner and overnight stay at Forest cottages.
Day 2; Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
You enjoy morning breakfast and drive to Murchison falls national park with an optional stopover at the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. It will take you around 5 hours from Kampala with about 305 kilometers. You will enter through Kichumbanyobo gate. Paara covers a distance of about 85km from Masindi town by the shortest route. You will visit the top of the falls and then proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 3; Game drive and launch cruise – Murchison Falls
Early morning breakfast and then go for a game drive where you will spot various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, Uganda kobs among others. In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise on the park’s main tourist attraction the unique Murchison Falls as well as the River Nile with its streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, as well as large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. Dinner and overnight as above
Day 4; Transfer to Kibale National Park
You will have breakfast and then drive to Kibale forest national park. This is a full day drive with lunch en-route in Fort portal town and a visit to Amabere Ganyinamwiru stalagmites site and crater lakes. Proceed to Kibale arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee forest guest house.
Day 5; chimpanzee trekking- Kibale forest
Have early morning breakfast and go for briefing and start Chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees.
After trekking, you will have lunch and then visit Bigodi wetland where you will experience a lot of bird life and unspoiled nature to spice up your Budget Uganda safari! Later transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and overnight at Kazinga Channel View Resort.
Day 6; Game drive and launch cruise- Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will go for early morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector where you may spot various animals like the elephants, Uganda kobs, leopards among others. Return to the lodge for late breakfast, in the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise where you will spot various water animals like Hippos and crocodiles, the cruise will also enrich you with various water birds. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 7; Transfer to Bwindi
After having your morning breakfast, you will set off for Bwindi passing through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park where you may spot some tree climbing lions. You will have lunch en-route, arriving in Bwindi in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge.
Day 8; Gorilla trekking – Bwindi
After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing and go for gorilla trekking. This could take 4-6 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. After trekking, meet your driver and transfer to Kisoro town. Dinner and overnight at Traveler’s rest hotel.
Day 9; Gorge Walk – Mgahinga National Park & Lake Bunyonyi.
You will have breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a guided nature walk hiking into Mgahinga. A hike through the forest to the deep Sabinyo Gorge – a massive gash in the flank of Mount Sabinyo – provides good birding opportunities and the chance to find the Rwenzori Turaco.
This walk takes four hours, and passes through the Rugezi Swamp which is fantastic for bird watchers on a Budget Uganda safari. The walk to the Congo border transcends different vegetation zones. Hikers can sight the calderas on top of the Gisozi hill, look out for Kisoro and Bunagana towns and be captivated by Lake Mutanda.
Later return and transfer to Lake Lake Bunyonyi with lunch en-route. Take a boat cruise along Lake Bunyonyi visiting the various islands and interacting with the locals. Dinnar and overnight at Bunyonyi overland resort.
Option 2; Volcanoe Hiking – Mgahinga national park.
All three volcanoes in this park can be summited. Mt. Sabinyo, at 3,669m, takes about eight hours to cover the 14km round trip, following a steep ridge up to the peak.It takes around six hours to ascend and descend Mt. Gahinga (3,474m), topped by a swamp-filled crater and giant lobelia. Lucky climbers may spot golden monkeys on their way through the bamboo forest.
Mt. Muhavura is the highest peak at 4,127m, and this 12km round trip takes around eight hours. Once at the top, hikers are rewarded on a clear day with views of the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Edward, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the peaks of the Rwenzoris. Return to Traveler’s Rest Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10; Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
You will enjoy your morning breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo national park with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch and arrive in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Eagle’s Nest Lodge.
Day 11: Game drive-Kampala
You will go for an early morning game drive; the park is home to herds of Impala, as well as the more uncommon Topi, Eland, and Klipspringer. Burchells Zebra and buffalo also graze these areas. Return to the lodge for late breakfast and lunch, and then drive back to Kampala. Dinner and overnight at Forest cottages.
Day 12: Full Day White water rafting – Jinja.
You will enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to Jinja for full day white water rafting on your budget Uganda safari including mid-morning breakfast and lunch. Later return to Kampala for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 13; Airport Transfer
You will enjoy breakfast and transfer to Entebbe airport for your flight back home with fond memories of a Uganda safari! Or depending on your flight schedule, have a brief city tour of Kampala, enjoy lunch and later transfer to the Airport marking the end of your 13 Days Budget Uganda Safari.
