This 13 Days Uganda Adventure Safari will take you to 2 of the East African countries and with this safari, you get to purchase an East African Tourist Visa. This safari will take you through the beautiful country with chances of seeing the endangered primates (Chimpanzees and Mountain gorillas) in Kibale national park and Volcanoes national park and Bwindi forest national park. Expect to also meet the big 5 animals (Lions, Leopards, Buffaloes, Rhinos and Elephants) in the savannah parks of Queen Elizabeth national park and Murchison falls national park. Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport – Hotel
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, meet your driver and connect to your booked lodge in either Entebbe/Kampala depending on your arrival time. Overnight stay at Papyrus Guesthouse or Forest Cottages for budget/ 2 Friends Beach Hotel or Skyz Naguru Hotel for mid-range
Day 2: Transfer to Jinja
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be met by our company representative and transfer to Jinja town, which is about 3-4 hours’ drive from Entebbe airport depending to road traffic. Upon arrival, check-in your reserved hotel, have lunch and rest for a while then later afternoon, visit the source of the Nile. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay Jinja Nile Resort for luxury/2 Friends Guesthouse for mid-range/Nile Front Cottages for budget
Day 3: White water rafting and Visit Source of the Nile boat cruise on Lake Victoria
After breakfast, meet your driver and connect for water rafting experience on the Nile, it’s a full day activity. You will first report for briefing then be provided with rafting gears for the activity. After rafting, connect to the lodge to where you will refresh as you prepare for a relaxing sunset boat cruise on Lake Victoria. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at hotel as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Murchison falls national park and Ziwa rhino sanctuary
You will be picked up by your driver/guide to start the tour at the hotel after your breakfast. Set off for Murchison Falls National Park, which is about 6-7 hours’ drive wiith en-route stop at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for the rhino tracking experience. This is the only place in Uganda where to you will see the rhinos. You will receive a briefing then start the walk to find the rhinos and on finding them, you will be allowed to watch and take pictures of them.
After lunch, proceed to your booked lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Tilenga Safari lodge for budget/Pakuba Safari Lodge for mid-range/Paraa Safari Lodge for luxury
Day 5: Morning game drive and Boat cruise and evening game drive – top of the falls visit
Early morning after breakfast at your lodge, embark on a morning game drive in the northern part of the park to the delta. This is where you may spot various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, hyenas, cape buffaloes, leopards (on a lucky day), and different species of antelopes including the Uganda Kobs, Jackson hartebeest, Oribi, waterbucks among others. After the game drive, return to your lodge to refresh and have lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise to see the magnificent falls along the River Nile. Cruising along the bottom of the falls will expose you to the park’s streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, different bird species and large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. After the boat cruise, connect to explore the top of the Murchison falls giving you the best sights of the falls, walking along Bakers trail. Thereafter, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Kibale national park (5-6 hours) –
After breakfast at your lodge, on your journey to Kibale national park in the western part of Uganda with stopovers to stretch with en-route lunch. Upon arrival, connect to explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The reserve is abundant with butterflies, plants, animals, in particular, birds and primates. Spectacular birds like Great Blue Turaco and rare Papyrus Gonolek will be of great interest to birders. The swamp is also home to more elusive animals such as Red Colobus monkeys and Sitatunga antelope. You will also have the opportunity to visit local community projects that have been financed by tourism and interact with the community. Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking activity – transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After breakfast, drive to Kibale park head offices for briefing about the chimpanzees. Enter the forest and start trek the chimpanzees in their natural habitat, its take 2-5 hours to find them and on finding them, you are allowed 1 hour to be in their process as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor.
After trekking and lunch, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. This is about 3 hours’ drive. Upon arrival, connect to your booked lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Bush Lodge for budget/Elephant Hub lodge for mid-range/Elephant Plains Lodge for luxury
Day 8: Morning game drive – Boat cruise along the Kazinga channel
After your breakfast, you will set off to an early morning a game drive where you will also encounter other animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbuck, Uganda Kob, and other types of antelopes. On a lucky day, you will sight the leopards, lions and hyenas.
After lunch, go for a 2 hours’ launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward, this cruise will let you pass through a place of the highest concentration of hippos and you may also see many animals drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise also offers a good platform for photography, bird watching, and games. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 9: Ishasha game drive – transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
After breakfast, connect to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park, home of the tree-climbing lions. Connect for an afternoon game drive where you will have chances of seeing the tree-climbing lions on tree branches.
Thereafter, have en-route lunch and proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park on a 4-5 hour’ drive. Upon arrival at your lodge, check-in as you prepare for your next day activity. Dinner, and spend a night at Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget option/Buhoma Haven Lodge for mid-range/Silverback Safari lodge for luxury
Day 10: Gorilla trekking experience
Have breakfast and transfer you to park offices for briefing about Mountain Gorilla trekking by a local guide. The time taken is usually between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Meeting the gorillas unexpectedly is one of the most captivating lifetime experiences. You will have a chance to observe and take pictures at very close range. You will observe adults feeding and groaning among themselves. After an hour with the long-awaited gorillas, your guide and rangers will lead you back to the starting point where your driver will readily be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge. Depending on the time you return from the trekking activity, you may do an optional community tour. Have dinner and overnight stay as lodge above
Day 11: Explore Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, connect to Lake Bunyonyi to explore Lake Bunyonyi on a canoe ride. This is the place to relax after all the hiking experience. Lake Bunyonyi is the second deepest lake in Africa with about 29 islands such as the punishment island, Bushara, Bwama and Njuyeera islands to mention a few. The lake is surrounded by steep terraced hillsides and best of all, unlike other lakes, Lake Bunyonyi is Bilharzia, hippo and crocodile free with crystal clear waters good for swimming.
After lunch, you can either relax at the lodge or go for Zip-lining at your one cost or do any other interesting activity of your choice. Return to relax at the lodge with great views of the hills and the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park – guided walking safari
Early morning, you will have breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo national park. It is about 4 hours’ drive with lunch at the lodge, arriving at the lodge at good time for lunch.
Later afternoon, connect for a walking safari and explore the park and animals on foot, encounter animals like the Zebras, Giraffes, waterbucks etc. Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Eagles Nest lodge for budget/Arcadia Cottages Lake Mburo for mid-range/Mihingo Safari Lodge for luxury option
Day 13: Transfer back to Entebbe and Departure
After breakfast, do a brief game drive to find some of the missed park residents before you check-out to embark on your journey to Entebbe. It’s about 5 hours’ drive with en-route stop for lunch and the Uganda Equator. Upon arrival in Entebbe, connect to Entebbe airport to check-in for your onward flight back home.
