Murchison falls national park harbors abundant mammal species such as elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, Jacksons hartebeest, oribi, Uganda kobs, jackals, waterbucks, buffaloes, hippos, Nile crocodiles, bird species like the elusive shoe bill stork among others which will be viewed during the game drive and boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Day 1 of the 3 days Murchison falls big five safari
Arrival and transfer to Murchison falls national park, depending of the time of arrival on the first day of the 3 days Murchison falls big five safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Murchison falls national park which is located in northwestern Uganda. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours drive and on your way you will have a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking which is done with the help of well trained rangers. Rhino tracking takes 1 to 2 hours depending on where they are located and during tracking you will be able to watch rhinos feeding, moving around, view other animals like waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, oribi, bird species like Abyssinian ground hornbill, black headed lapwing, African darter, yellow billed stork, white faced whistling duck, secretary bird, grey crowned crane, Senegal thick knee among others. After rhino tracking you will continue to Masindi town for lunch where after you will drive to Murchison falls national park, check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days Murchison falls big five safari you will meet up with your driver guide to go for the morning game drive which starts at around 6:30 or 7:00am. During the game drive you will follow different game tracks such as Buligi, Victoria and Albert game tracks where you will view different animals like elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeest, lions, waterbucks, warthogs, leopards, Uganda kobs, bird species like black bellied bustard, secretary birds, open billed stork, grey crowned crane, goliath heron among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Boat cruise, after lunch you will drive to Paraa landing site for a boat cruise adventure to the bottom of the falls. The scheduled boat cruise takes about 2 to 3 hours and during the activity you will have an opportunity to cruise meters away from animals like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, waterbucks which will be drinking water along the shores, view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, aquatic bird species such as the King fisher’s, fish eagles, Bee-eaters, Herons, cormorants among others. The boat will continue to the bottom of the falls where you will either cruise back to the starting point or opt for an adventurous top of the falls hike. Hiking to the top of the falls takes about 45 minutes and is strenuous hence requires you to be physically fit. During hiking you will enjoy splashes from the waterfall, listen to roars of the water, view beautiful scenery, landscape among others and once you reach on top you will meet your driver guide and then drive to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Game drive and departure to Kampala
Game drive, on the last day of the 3 days Murchison falls big five safari you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for another game drive. During the game drive you will have an opportunity to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the previous game drive. After the game drive you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Kampala. On your way you will have en-route lunch and upon arrival in Kampala your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your next flight or drop you off at any place of convenience.
