4 Day Kidepo Wildlife Safari features only a visit to Uganda’s most popular savannah wildlife national park. Kidepo national park had been isolated for the year because of is great distance to drive and expensive flights. However, given the renovation of routes leading to the park, today it is easily to access Kidepo national park with a single day drive without en-route overnight stops in close towns. This 4 days trip offers visitors more time to explore the park than driving on the road. Before driving to Kidepo took more than 10 hours however, with this trip, time estimate from Kampala to Kidepo is 9-10 hours using the Northern route of Uganda through Gulu district, Kitgum and finally in Kaboong district. This trip does not require arrival and departure flights to the start and end of the trip respectively.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo national park

  • Transfer to Kidepo national park: Depending on your location in Kampala, you will with our company representative who will also be your safari guide during the course of the trip. You will meet at your pick up location very early at 6 am and set off to the Northern part of Uganda heading to Kidepo Valley national park located in Karamojong region (Kaboong district). It’s a full day drive with en-route lunch and arriving in Kidepo late afternoon. Check-in at the park entry office then proceed to your accommodation facility for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2: Morning and afternoon/evening game drive in Narus valley

  • Morning and game drive: Wake up early and connect for a morning game drive in Narus valley. As you enjoy your game drive, bush breakfast will be served and return for more adventure in the savannah plains of Kidepo national park on your morning game drive in Narus valley. This area is famous for finding the big 4 game including the lions, elephants, leopards and buffaloes. If you are lucky, you will spot the Cheetahs and hyenas as well. Other animals to be found include the kobs, Oribi, Zebras, the giraffes to mention a few.  
  • afternoon game drive: Return for lunch at the lodge and later afternoon; visit one of the communities around the park for a community tour, learning about the Karamojong culture and tradition. As you return to the park, enjoy another evening game drive for the missed animals. Before nightfall, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Game drive in Kidepo valley – Hot springs visit

  • Game drive in Kidepo valley – Hot springs visit: After breakfast, connect for yet another game drive in the Kidepo valley. This area is further from Narus valley and it is where you will find the Ostrich birds and other animals. This area is closer to South Sudan border to Uganda. You will also visit the hot springs of Kanangorok before you return to your lodge. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe

  • Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe: Wake up for the delicious breakfast, check-out of the lodge and set off for Kampala with en-route lunch in Gulu or Masindi towns and other several stops where you will need to stretch and refresh. This is quite a long drive taking about 10-11 hours on road. You will be dropped at a location you will advise in Kampala /Entebbe.
