Our 4 days Bwindi gorillas and Ngamba chimpanzee safari is an extraordinary adventure that will take you to Ngamba island a chimpanzee sanctuary that harbors the orphaned chimpanzees that were rescued from poachers. While at the sanctuary you will be able to view and feed the chimpanzees. The safari will also take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is located in southwestern Uganda harboring the highest number of endangered mountain gorillas. You will therefore participate in gorilla trekking activity an adventurous activity that gives you an opportunity to spend one hour with the mountain gorillas in their natural environment.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1 of the 4 days Bwindi gorillas and Ngamba chimpanzee safari
Arrival and transfer to Ngamba island, depending on the time of arrival on the first day of the 4 days Bwindi gorillas and Ngamba chimpanzee safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then go for lunch. After lunch you will transfer the landing site at waterfront beach in Entebbe near Uganda Wildlife Education Center to take a speed boat to Ngamba Island which is located on Lake Victoria. The speed boat takes about 50 minutes to reach the island and upon arrival you will get an opportunity to spot the chimpanzees, feed them, go for a forest walk among others. After spending time with chimpanzees at Ngamba Island you will take another boat ride to the landing site in Entebbe and then transfer to the lodge in Kampala for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After breakfast on the second day of your 4 days Bwindi gorillas and Ngamba chimpanzee safari your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and start the journey to the misty Bwindi impenetrable national park in south western Uganda. The journey takes about 8 to 9 hours drive and on your way you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe where you will take photos, buy souvenirs and then continue the journey with en-route lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara. After lunch you will proceed the journey with views of the beautiful scenery, terraced farmlands, local people, homesteads and then Bwindi impenetrable national park. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on the third day of your 4 days Bwindi gorillas and ngamba chimpanzee safari you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be grouped into 8 people where each group will be allocated a gorilla group to visit and a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the jungle. grouping of individuals is however done according to age, personal preferences and physical fitness therefore in case you are not physically fit you are advised to communicate to your driver guide so that they allocate you a gorilla family that is easy to trek.
Trekking of the mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where they are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will have views of colorful bird species, primates like black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, animals like forest elephants, buffaloes, plant species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to take photos, record videos, learn more about their lifestyle, behaviors and habits. After the one hour encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Departure to Kampala
On the third day of your 4 days Bwindi gorillas and Ngamba chimpanzee safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kampala. On your way you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara town and after lunch continue the journey to Kampala. Upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your next flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
