4 Days Queen Elizabeth Birding Safari will start and end in Kampala. The safari will take you to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda and also one of the best birding destinations. Queen Elizabeth national park is a home of over 600 bird species like black bee-eater, brown chested alethe, African fin foot, African skimmer, broad billed roller, great blue turaco, grey winged robin chat, papyrus gonolek, rufous bellied heron, pink backed pelican, yellow throated cuckoo among others which can be seen in different birding areas such as Kyambura gorge, mweya peninsular, Iazinga channel, ishasha sector and Maramagambo forest. Queen Elizabeth national park is also popularly known for harboring the tree climbing lions which are found in Ishasha sector southern part of the park and other animals like elephants, buffaloes, hippos, lions, leopards, waterbucks, warthogs, giant forest hogs, Uganda kobs among others.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Arrival and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, depending on your time of arrival at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 4 days birding safari in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to the second largest national park Queen Elizabeth national park in western Uganda. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe to buy souvenirs, take pictures and then proceed with another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey with views of traditional homesteads, beautiful scenery, crater lakes among others and upon arrival you will proceed to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Bird watching in Kyambura gorge and Ishasha sector
Bird watching in Kyambura gorge, after breakfast on the second day of the 4 days birding safari in Queen Elizabeth national park you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kyambura gorge in the north eastern part of the park. Upon arrival you will have a nature walk briefing from the park guide and then start hiking in the forest where you will be able to spot different bird species like white tailed lark, black bee-eater, verreaux’s eagle, pink backed pelican, chapin’s flycatcher, corncrake, white winged warbler, lesser and greater flamingo, papyrus canary, martial eagle, African broadbill among others. You will also be able to view primates like black and white colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, baboons among others. After the nature walk you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Bird watching in Ishasha sector, after lunch you will transfer to Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park for a game drive in the savannah plains. During the game drive you will be able to spot bird species like shoebill, brown snake eagle, black bellied bustard, greater honey guide, brown backed scrub robin, grey backed fiscal, African green pigeon, Ross’s turaco, hooded vulture, grey woodpecker, broad billed roller, striped kingfisher, palm nut vulture, ross’s turaco among others. You will also be able to see the tree climbing lions and other animals like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive in Kasenyi plains and boat cruise on Kazinga channel
Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 days birding safari in Queen Elizabeth your driver guide will pick you up to go for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains where you will have great views of birds like bateleur, African crake, flappet lark, long created eagle, African white backed vulture, hooded vulture, rufous napped lark, crowned plover, black bellied bustard, ruppells griffon vulture, palm-nut vulture, African wattled plover, wahlbergs eagle, Senegal plover, temmincks courser among others, kasenyi plains also harbors animals abundant animals like elephants, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, warthogs, bushbucks, waterbucks and many others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.
Boat cruise, after lunch you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the landing site near the luxury Mweya safari for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water body that connects Lake Gorge and Lake Edward. During the boat cruise you will have views of bird species like African mourning dove, swamp nightjar, grey headed kingfisher, black crake, open billed stork, saddle billed stork, long tailed cormorant, African shoebill, pink backed pelican, African jacana, yellow billed stork among others. During the boat cruise you will also view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs along the shores, view fisher men organizing their fishing gears among others. After the interesting boat ride you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Bird watching in Maramagambo forest and departure to Kampala
After breakfast on the last day of the 4 days birding safari in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will check out of the park and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Maramagambo forest for bird watching. Upon arrival you will engage in an adventurous nature walk following trails through the forest where you will get an opportunity to view different bird species like forest fly catcher, Rwenzori turaco, white naped pigeon, black bee-eater, Narina trogon, African fin foot, brown chested alethe, grey greenbul among others. After the nature walk you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey to Kampala. On the way you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara town and then continue the journey to Kampala where you will be dropped off at Entebbe airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
