4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Bisoke Hike is an exciting adventure that starts and ends in Kigali. The tour is designed for visitors who like to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat and hiking Mount Bisoke which is a dormant volcano and one of the eight volcanic mountains in Rwanda. Mount Bisoke is one of the popular volcanoes in Volcanoes national park and it rises at an altitude of 3711 meters above the sea level.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1 of the 4 days gorilla trekking and Bisoke hiking tour
Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes national park, depending on your location on the first day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and Bisoke hiking tour you will be pick up by our driver guide who will brief you about the tour and then transfer to Kigali for a city tour. During the city tour you will be able to visit some of the top attractions in Rwanda such as Kigali genocide memorial centre where you will know more about the 1994 killing of people, visit Kimironko market where you will be able to interact with the local traders who will be selling vegetables, clothes, craft items among others. After the city tour you will have lunch in one of the restaurants in Kigali which gives you an opportunity to taste their dishes and after start the journey to Volcanoes national park in northwestern part of Rwanda. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours drive and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park
Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and Bisoke hiking tour you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated an experienced park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and trails in the jungle and a habituated gorilla family to trek. Trekking of the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park starts at around 8:00am and takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the mountain gorillas are located. During trekking you will be able to see other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, view different bird species, tree and plant species among others and when the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them which gives you an opportunity to learn about their habits, behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities which include feeding, breastfeeding, playing, resting, take incredible photos and record videos with a flash less camera. After the incredible moment with the mountain gorillas you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Hiking Mount Bisoke
Hiking Mount Bisoke, after an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and Bisoke hiking tour you will carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a pre-hike briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a knowledgeable park guide who is well conversant with trails in Bisoke Mountain and then drive to the starting point where you will be given a hiking stick and a porter who will give you a pull or push during hiking and also carry your backpack. Climbing Mount Bisoke takes about 6 hours including the 2 hours descending down to the starting point and experienced hikers can climb to the top within 3 hours or even less. Hiking Mount Bisoke you will have stunning views of different vegetation types like alpine, bamboo forest, giant lobelia, view different animals like forest elephants, primates like golden monkeys, mountain gorillas, different bird species among others. When you reach at the summit you will have beautiful views of the Crater Lake, Virunga mountain ranges, Rwenzori mountains, take great photos and have picnic lunch. After lunch you will start descending down which takes about one hour to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Twin lakes tour and departure to Kigali
On the last day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and Bisoke hiking tour, you will have a relaxed breakfast and your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the twin lakes of Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo which are located on the base of Sabinyo volcano. Upon arrival at the twin lakes you will have stunning views of the beautiful scenery, sunrise, terraced farmlands, steep hills, view fishermen fishing, relax your mind among others. After the twin lakes tour you will drive back to the lodge for lunch, after lunch you will check out of the lodge and start the journey to Kigali international airport for your departure flight or at any place of convenience.
