8 Days Uganda gorillas, chimpanzees, and wildlife safari
This Uganda safari package begins in Entebbe and proceeds with an overnight stay in Kampala, before embarking on full-scale safari experiences including a visit to Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale forest for the Chimpanzees, and continues to Bwindi for Mountain Gorilla trekking.
The trip can be a 7 days package without the stay in Kampala on the 1st night. There is a lot to see and do as per the detailed itinerary below;
Day 1: Arrival and Hotel transfer
You will be met by our company representative together with the guide upon arrival at the airport and be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Forest cottages or Sheraton Hotel Kampala.
Day 2: Kampala to Murchison Falls
enjoy breakfast at the lodge and make an early start on your journey to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover in Masindi town for lunch. Proceed to Murchison falls and visit top of the falls – one of the star attractions in the area before proceeding to your lodge where you will unwind for the rest of the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Game drive and launch cruise
Wake up for an early morning breakfast and go for a game drive where you may spot various animal species like bush elephants, giraffes, lions, Uganda kobs, among others. In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise on the park’s main tourist attraction, the unique Murchison Falls, as well as the River Nile with its streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, as well as large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Murchison – Kibale National Park
Have breakfast and then drive to Kibale forest national park – home to the Chimpanzees. This is a full-day drive with a lunch stopover en-route and arriving at the lodge in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale
After breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is a place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primates, coupled with chimpanzees. After trekking, you will have lunch and then visit Bigodi Wetland. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Bwindi for gorillas
Enjoy morning breakfast in Kibale and transfer to Bwindi National Park, driving through the famous Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you may spot some game, including tree climbing lions. Proceed to Bwindi with lunch en route, arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
You will have an early morning breakfast and report at the park headquarters for a briefing by the park ranger guides, after which you head into the forest for gorilla trekking in Bwindi. This could take 4-8 hours, depending on the movements of the mountain gorillas.
Upon discovering the gentle mountain gorillas, you will be allowed 1 hour to view and take photos of these primates, which often seem not to mind the visitors’ attention as they go about their daily lives. Return to the starting point, receive your gorilla trekking certificates in a short “graduation ceremony”, meet your driver, and transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
Have breakfast and head for Kampala, driving across some incredible landscapes, local markets, and countryside towns. Enjoy lunch en-route in Masaka city and proceed to Kampala, arriving in the late afternoon. Drop off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe airport for your flight back home.
