DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Transfer to volcanoes national park: On day 1 of 7 days Rwanda and Congo safari tour, our company representative in Kigali Rwanda will pick you up from a hotel in Kigali or direct from Kigali international airport then brief you about this 7 days combined Rwanda and Congo safari as you start the journey heading to volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri. Upon park arrival, check in your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park
Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park: Arise for an early breakfast on day 2 of 7 days Rwanda and Congo safari tour then pack whatever is required during gorilla trekking and meet your safari driver to be transferred to the park headquarters in Kiningi for a pre gorilla trekking briefing where you will be of the dos and don’ts while in the wilderness of endangered mountain gorillas in volcanoes national park Rwanda. After briefing, you will then hire a porter then be led into the forest by experienced armed rangers and start the search of endangered mountain gorilla family allocated to you and other 7 trekkers since the maximum number of trekkers per gorilla family is 8 persons per day. After finding the gorilla family, you will spend one hour in their vicinity then exit the forest and be returned to your lodge for lunch. Later in the evening, you may enjoy a cultural visit to Ibyiwacu cultural village or have a guided nature walk to visit the twin lakes of Burela and Ruhondo. Whichever activity you choose, remember to return to your lodge in time to have your dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Drive to Nyungwe forest national park: After breakfast on day 3 of 7 days Rwanda and Congo safari tour, check out of the lodge and meet your safari driver to start the journey from Volcanoes national park to Nyungwe forest national park a home to the largest population of primates in Rwanda almost equivalent to Kibale forest national park which is also a home to 13 primate species in uganda the pearl of Africa. During the long drive, you will stopover at the Kings palace and also visit Murambi genocide memorial sites. Lunch will be enjoyed enroute while dinner will be at the lodge later in the evening after arrival and check in.

Day 4: Chimpanzees trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park
Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park: Enjoy an early breakfast on day 4 of 7 days Rwanda and Congo safari tour then meet your safari drive to be transferred to the park headquarters of Nyungwe forest national park where you will briefed about chimpanzee trekking including the dos and don’ts, possible encounters and many more. After briefing, you will be led into the forest to search for habituated troops of chimpanzees. The trek takes about 2-3 hours with one hour of close viewing and photo taking. Once the one hour elapses, exit the forest and be driven for lunch at the lodge.
Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park: Later in the afternoon, you will head out for a canopy walk in Nyungwe forest one of the best canopy walks in Africa that attracts several tourists all year round to walk on a 150m canopy raised at about 50m high. During the canopy walk, you will be rewarded with a stunning view of Nyungwe forest national park, different primate species, mammals, birds and butterflies among others. Return to the lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Gisenyi and explore Lake Kivu
Transfer to Gisenyi and explore Lake Kivu: On day 5 of 7 days Rwanda and Congo safari tour, check out your lodge after breakfast and meet your Rwanda safari driver to set off from Nyungwe forest national park to Gisenyi with an enroute lunch. Upon arrival in Gisenyi, you will check in at a reserved hotel then went on an evening adventure exploring the beauty of Lake Kivu, take a canoe ride to explore some of the islands along the shores of the lake while viewing plenty species of fauna and flora.

Day 6: Hike mount Nyiragongo (Ascend)
Hike mount Nyiragongo in Virunga national park: On day 6 of 7 days Rwanda and Congo safari tour, arise at the shores of Lake Kivu, have breakfast and be driven to the Rwanda Congo border to obtain your Congo visa, proceed to the park headquarters of Virunga national park to obtain your mount Nyiragongo hiking permit and finally join the convoy and head to Kibati ranger post for briefing together with other hikers before embarking on 5-6 hours Nyiragongo Hike. Enjoy a packed lunch along the hike wile dinner will be at the summit where you will then spend an overnight watching a glowing lava lake.

Day 7: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and return to Kigali
Descend Nyiragongo and Return to Kigali Rwanda for departures: After breakfast at the summit of Mount Nyiragongo on day 7 of 7 days Rwanda and Congo safari tour which is the last day of your 1-week adventure in Rwanda and Congo, meet other hikers to start descending back to Kibati upon arrival at Kibati, you will then be driven back to Rwanda where you will obtain another Rwanda visa, met your safari driver for a hotel transfer to enjoy some lunch and finally return to Kigali for departures.
